NCCAR Parliamentary Internship Program -2012

 

 

Operating since 1996, the Parliamentary Internship Program has become a fundamental component of the National Council on Canada-Arab Relations’ (NCCAR) Educational Program. This placement is available to young Canadians of Arab origin currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary educational institution. It provides interns with exposure to the Canadian political process and serves as an eye-opener to the challenges and opportunities the Canadian Arab community faces in the Canadian political arena.

This year, the internship will be extended to young Canadians of all backgrounds who demonstrate strong interest in Middle East affairs, and alignment with NCCAR’s values and principles.

Objective

To coordinate a six-week internship placement for a young Canadian with a Member of Parliament.

Duration

A six-week over the course of the summer (between May and August 2012)

Selection Process

In April, NCCAR will interview candidates and make recommendations to participating members of Parliament. Members of Parliament will receive a copy of the candidates’ curriculum vitae for final approval.

Orientation

NCCAR will provide interns with an outline of the program and will introduce the participants to the Member of Parliament.

Compensation

Interns will receive a one-time stipend payment to help serve as a living allowance and to pay for transportation.

Accountability

Interns are required to provide NCCAR with an end of term report outlining accomplishments, skills acquired, successes, etc.
