NCCAR Board Member, Rula Odeh, in the Calgary Herald – June 6

NCCAR Board Member, Rula Odeh, was quoted in the article “Saudi Arabia cancelled major trade meeting because of Baird visit to East Jerusalem: Report” which was published in the Calgary Herald on June 6, 2013.

In the article,  Lee Berthiaume investigates why a major trade meeting between Canada and Saudi Arabia in Toronto this spring was postponed indefinitely. Berthiaume reveals that “a major Arabic-language daily newspaper [Al-Hayat] has linked the decision with Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird’s meeting with a top Israeli minister in East Jerusalem in April.”

In the article, Odeh was quoted stating a similar remark, “As a result of a series of diplomatic blunders by the current Canadian government and its lack of respect for international law, Canada’s reputation has suffered on the world stage and with the Arab World.”
