Miko Peled’s event in Ottawa was a great success: Recap, pictures, and video!
NCCAR’s event with Miko Peled on February 26th at Saint Paul University was a great success and continues to receive outstanding feedback from our attendees! Days before the event, our 300 tickets were sold out and we had a full turnout on the day of the event.
An hour before the event, NCCAR held a VIP reception with several prominent members of the community with a long-standing commitment to justice and peace in Israel-Palestine.
The event kicked off with opening statements from Peter Larson, NCCAR Vice President and Chair of the National Education Committee on Israel Palestine (NECIP), Senator Pierre De Bane, and Reverend Canon John Bridges.
Right after, Mr. Peled began his presentation which centered on the argument that the struggle for peace in Israel-Palestine is in the pursuit of a democratic solution that does not favour one race over the other.
The optimism of Mr. Peled’s presentation was his belief that the one-state solution was a possible outcome. His presentation was well received by audience members, many of which participated in the question period, bought his book (which was also sold out), or conversed with Mr. Peled after the presentation.
At the end of the presentation three draws were made in which two people won a copy of Mr. Peled’s book, “The General’s Son”, and one person won $500 towards an Israel-Palestine tour organized by NECIP.
NCCAR would like to sincerely thank all of our organizers, event sponsors, donors, and volunteers in helping to make this event a success. NCCAR is also very grateful to all who made donations on the day of the event.
